Guide to the user
What is this toolbox for?
The purpose of this toolbox is to provide an easy and systematic
access to material that is useful for introducing disability issues
into poverty reduction strategies. This site is a sort of "an
electronic bookshelf".
The main sections contain a minimum amount of text to provide
some basic organizing perspectives. These introductions are in turn
linked to the main substance and sources. It consists of some basic
general facts on disability, guiding principles, handbooks and
concrete planning and advocacy tools, as well as examples of good,
inclusive practices at various levels. There are also a few short
articles produced specifically for this site.
The toolbox is particularly intended to be a participatory
working platform for the GPDD members and partners. These pages
will get their life and usefulness through active participation.
You are thus invited to contribute relevant material to this site.
There is an Editorial Committee that is responsible for selection
of the contributions and updating of the site so as to ensure a
high standard and usefulness for the intended audience of those
working for the inclusion of disability matters in poverty
reduction strategies. Each contributor is asked to give permission
to include her/his email address to the item. This will facilitate
networking and the accumulation of knowledge.
How is it structured?
There are 6 main sections. These are accessed through the left
hand side navigation bar the appears on this page.
- What's New
- Facts and figures on disability
- Guidelines and tools
- Good practice examples
- Field projects including courty reports
- Links to organizations that deal with disability and poverty
reduction
Each of the sections has a few subtopics that can be accessed
through the vertical menu on the left side of each page under the
section heading . These subtopics can also be opened from the
introductory text, where they are also referred to.
Endnotes have been added in cases where an exact reference to
the specific page of a document is necessary.
This site is designed in accordance with W3C accessibility
standards. Preference is given to material that is available in RTF
and is already in the web. Some very relevant material is
unfortunately only available in PDF. All reasonable efforts will be
made to provide the RTF option when available.
The e-mail addresses are expressed in the format that attracts
less junk mail. Thus the @ -sign is replaced by [at].
