Strategies and Practices in Mental Disorder Prevention

Strategies and Practices in Mental Disorder Prevention

The project aims to develop a municipal strategy for the development of mental disorder prevention and to support municipalities in their practical development efforts. The project builds on earlier development work in Finland, as well as on European projects on mental health promotion (EMIP) and mental disorder prevention (IMPHA). The project aims to: 1) Analyse the situation of mental disorder prevention on the basis of previous analyses and municipal general plans for mental health work; 2) Make use of the material produced by IMPHA and EMIP and the European evidence-based models of good practice in the planning work; and 3) Draw up local or regional plans and start practical efforts to develop mental disorder prevention. The project is implemented in 2006-2008 in co-operation with the municipalities and sub-regions selected on the basis of the results of the analysis.
